Lagos Prison Escapee Steals 20 Cars!

The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended a 32-year-old convict, Kingsley Chibuzor, for snatching over 20 cars between 2011 and 2013.

Chibuzor was said to have escaped few months into his sentence from the Kirikiri Medium Prison in 2011, where he was serving a term for malicious damage.
After his escape, the suspect was said to have specialised in snatching cars in Lagos, Anambra and Ebonyi states but met his waterloo when he was arrested by the operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad in Lagos.
He was arrested alongside two members of his gang; Ozoemena Enebeli and Prince Nwafor.
Chibuzor said, “I was arrested and sent to prison for malicious damage. My prison sentence was supposed to be for three years but I spent only some months there. One day, around 4am, I told a prison official to help me get kerosene and he left the door to our prison open.
“I was able to sneak into a particular area of the building and jumped over the fence. The area was dark and nobody saw me. From there, I trekked to Ojo Barracks to visit my mother but when she asked how I left prison, I did not answer her.”
The father of four said he relocated to Imo State for about six months so as to evade prison officials and policemen, who were on his trail.
He however said he returned to Lagos soon after because he could not survive in the village.
He said, “I became a commercial bus driver and every day, I delivered N5,000 to my boss while I made about N1,500. Sometimes, I also operated heavy duty equipment at my free time and I was paid for it.
“The money was not enough to sustain my family. I met Ozo (Enebeli) at a beer parlour in Mile 2 on a particular day. We became close friends because we spoke the same language and we decided to become armed robbers. I ‘organised’ N40,000 and bought two guns from Benin Republic.
“Our first operation was at Surulere in Lagos. A man was about to enter into his compound and we snatched his Toyota Camry 2000 model from him and we sold it for N200, 000.”
Chibuzor told PUNCH Metro that he never killed any of his victims but only snatched their cars from them after which he would sell them cheap.
He said he continued to work as a bus driver but only robbed whenever he was broke.
“We snatched a Toyota Highlander jeep as the owner was returning from a beer parlour in Asaba. We sold it at N400,000 even though its value was over N1m. We snatched a Toyota Camry in Onistha, Anambra, and a RAV 4 jeep at the Igando area of Lagos. We sold the RAV 4 for N150,000.
“While transporting the Highlander to one of our associates in Ebonyi, we saw a Toyota FJ Cruiser and we snatched the vehicle from its owner. The vehicle is worth over N3m but we sold it for N500,000,” Chibuzor recalled.
The suspect was however arrested at the Igando area of Lagos while he was attempting to snatch another vehicle and meet with a buyer.
Through his arrest, the police were able to apprehend Enebeli, who was in Ghana.
Enebeli, in his defence, said he had given up robbery and had relocated to Ghana but was lured back to the country for one more robbery operation.
He said, “I am into computer graphics but I lost my job in 2010; that was when I met with Chibuzor. We carried out many robbery operations but we never killed anyone. We never even kidnapped.
“One day in Igando, a man left the key in his ignition and wanted to open the gate to his house when Chibuzor and I quickly jumped in and drove off. It was later that we realised that the man’s girlfriend was even in the vehicle.
“But we did not attack her; we let her go because we are not bad boys. I had even given up robbery and had settled in Ghana where I was living well and was even sending money to my wife and children. I was only tempted to come for one more operation.”
The Police Public Relations Officer of the state command, Ngozi Braide, confirmed the incident to our correspondent on the telephone, adding that the matter would soon be charged to court.

Ignore ASUU’s Demands, NASU, NAAT, SSANU Tell FG

NON Teaching staff in tertiary institutions in Nigeria, have advised the Federal Government to ignore the Memorandum of Understanding it entered into with the striking lecturers on the aegis of Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, saying its implementation would lead to another round of crisis.

The Non Teaching Staff comprising Non-Academic Staff Union of Education and Associated Institutions, NASU, National Association of Academic Technologists, NAAT, and Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities,SSANU rather advised government to implement the 2009 agreements it entered with the unions in tertiary institutions. In a statement signed by Samson Ugwoke, President of SSANU and spokesperson of NAAT, SSANU and NASU tited, ‘Our stand on the on-going ASUU strike’, the unions sympathised with ASUU but noted that the MoU was not in the best interest of the education sector.
It stated “We sympathise and solidarise with our sister union, ASUU over their long drawn struggle for the welfare of their members. We urged the government to build more confidence in governance, at all times, by respecting agreements it freely enters into with unions. ”However, we caution that any settlement of the current dispute must take into account the interests of all the university-based unions (NAAT, SSANU, NASU and ASUU).
The three Non-Teaching Staff Unions of NAAT, SSANU and NASU are opposed to any extraneous demands by either ASUU or any group in the university which are prejudicial to the welfare of our members. ”
Our stand is that government should jettison the so called ASUU’s Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and concentrate on full implementation of the 2009 FGN/Unions agreements which border on staff conditions of service and welfare, and increased funding to universities. ”
The MOU being referred to by ASUU is for their selfish end and it is bound to generate more crises in the university sub-sector. The Non-Teaching Staff Unions in the universities will stoutly resist any attemp t to ‘sell’ the universities to ASUU. ”
All university based unions signed agreements in 2009 with the government, it is therefore advised that all contentious issues in all the agreements be settled holistically to avoid a ‘relay race’ in strike actions in the universities. ”
The implementation of any union’s MOU should not come in between the period of implementation of signed agreements rather, such items in the MOU should wait to be re-negotiated in another agreement(s).”

ASUU Strike Update! Federal Government Resolved To Open Nigerian Varsities Nextweek With Or Without ASUU

The ASUU strike has extended a couple of months and the FG and ASUU havent been able to reach a compromise.

The latest news coming your way on ASUU strike is that the FG is set to open Nigerian Universities with or without ASUU, according to ScanNews Nigeria.

President Goodluck Jonathan will on Monday, November 4, meet with the leaders of ASUU at the Presidential Villa.
An official of the Vice Presidents office who pleaded anonymity told Scan News that all hands are now on deck to ensure that the Universities resume next week.

The President will at next Mondays meeting present to the ASUU leadership the administrations last concession for them to call off the prolonged strike.

A source at the Presidential Villa noted that if ASUU fails to call off, the Federal Government will then resort to plan B, which will be to compulsorily open the Universities, using the instrumentality of the governing councils and the school managements.

Already, most of the governing councils of the Universities have started meeting to work out modalities for the compulsory re-opening of the Universities should ASUU fail to honour the personal request of President Jonathan.

It was gathered that security report available to the Presidency may have necessitated this line of action to salvage the Universities system from the direction it is facing at present.

Along with some top officials of the agency, Sally is being investigated for an alleged N270m fraud. And this time, the case has reached such an extent that anti-corruption agency, the EFCC has invited and questioned all parties involved.

The case against Mrs Mbanefo and others centres on illegal manouevering in 'allocating budgets', approving expenditures'.
An insider is said to have discovered the anomaly and petitioned the EFCC with supporting evidences. Six top staffers of the NTDC - including the D.G and the 'C.S.O' - are involved in the ongoing case.

Must Read! How Smartphone Saved Man's Life - A True Live Story

A well-placed smart phone has saved the life of a gas station attendant in Florida, USA.
A photo released by the police shows a bullet hole in the phone screen and a bulge at the back where the bullet protruded
There’s no doubt cell phones have made life infinitely easier, but one man realized just how helpful they can be when an HTC smartphone saved his life.
Early Monday morning, a gas station clerk was aiding a customer in finding a specific drink when the customer pulled a gun and demanded that the clerk open the safe.
The clerk was unable to do so, and a second clerk was given the same instruction.
Neither clerk was able to unlock the safe and the gunman left, but not before firing off a single shot.
Police were immediately called to the Hess gas station in Winter Garden, Florida.
While they were interviewing the clerk to gather information, he complained of chest pains. Until then, no one noticed that he had been shot.
According to police accounts, he survived the attempted armed robbery thanks in part to his cell phone, which was stashed in his chest pocket.
“So they started looking at the clerk. That’s when they realized that the guy had actually shot at him, hit him, struck his cell phone, and the cell phone had stopped his bullet,” Winter Garden Police Lt. Scott Allen said.
The clerk was taken to the hospital, but was quickly released with no injuries.
The chest pain he complained of was due to the blunt force of the bullet hitting the phone. His HTC smartphone, however, didn’t fare so well.
The screen is shattered and bullet is lodged into the phone. The other clerk was not harmed.
“I’ve seen individuals get shot with low-caliber handguns and I’ve seen it be life ending.
So, for this gentleman to be as lucky as he is, it’s a good day for us,” Allen said.
This isn’t the first time an HTC phone has saved a man’s life from a bullet. In 2011, a valet at an Atlanta night club was shot by two men.
According to the Associated Press, one of the bullets may have done some serious damage had it not been stopped by the man’s HTC, also located in his chest pocket.
Reports from this case indicate that the phone’s battery kept the bullet from doing any harm.
The lesson from this story is simple: be carefull with your smartphone, one day it may save your life!

ASUU: FG Yet To Release N100bn To Universities

Despite claims by the Federal government that the sum of N100billion had been disbursed to 59 public universities to improve infrastructure in the benefitting institutions, the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has alleged that none of the universities had received the said sum.

This is just as former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon has appealed to both parties to strike a compromise for the sake of our children and the country.
Chairman of the Federal University of Agriculture Makurdi branch of ASUU, Dr. Celestine Aguoru, who spoke yesterday after leading members of the branch on a peaceful march around Makurdi town in protest of the lingering Federal Government/ASUU face-off said: “As we are talking today, government has not released one kobo out of the N100 billion they claimed they have given the universities; this goes to show the level of insincerity of the government.
“The truth is that government is paying lip service to the development of education in this country and has therefore resorted to playing politics with the education sector and the future of our children.
“It is rather unfortunate that majority of those who are leading us today went to school in their time on scholarships, but today they do not want our children to benefit from that same gesture, all because of greed.
“Today we are faced with a situation where the amount Nigerians spend yearly to educate their children in Ghana is far more than the yearly budgetary allocation to the education sector.
“Our leaders are not being fair to our country, government should as a matter of priority implement its agreements with ASUU, Nigerians are tired of this deceit; they should remember that if they continue to negate their responsibilities to the people, one day they will certainly give account to God.”
Meanwhile, General Gowon, who spoke in Lagos at the launch the first edition of the Shell Nigeria Scholars Forum, for the beneficiaries of its scholarship argued that one of the parties must be prepared to yield ground in order to save the education sector. He said: “I do believe it is time for all lovers of education to come together and get both the federal government and ASUU to return to the negotiation table and resolve all outstanding grievances. Both sides must be willing to yield ground for the sake of our children and that of our dear country Nigeria.”
In an elaborate ceremony chaired by Gowon, the Country Chair, Shell Companies in Nigeria, and Managing Director, SPDC, Mr Mutiu Sunmonu, said the forum “would serve as a meeting place for all beneficiaries of Shell post secondary scholarship schemes.

Six-year-old boy dies in Lagos building fire

The damaged building

A six-year-old boy identified as Abiodun, lost his life after fire razed 11 rooms in a compound located on Ogundele Street in the Ifako, Gbagada area of Lagos State.

The incident was said to have occurred around 9.30pm on Tuesday.
Although the actual cause of fire could not be ascertained as of press time, residents told our correspondent that they believed that the fire was caused by a lighted candle.
When PUNCH Metro visited the scene of the incident on Wednesday afternoon, smoke continued to emanate from some of the burnt items.
Burnt books, beds, doors, televisions and other items littered the area as residents toured the building.
A resident in the compound, whose room was not affected because it was detached from the main building, said the fire started during the premiership football match between Arsenal and Chelsea.
The occupant, Michael Olujimi, said most of them were at a viewing centre when the fire started.
He said, “Most of us were at a viewing centre in the next compound, watching the match when we saw smoke billowing from our compound. We all rushed back but the fire was already intense.
“The youths in the area got buckets of water and tried to douse the flames but it continued to rage. At that point, we did not know that  Abiodun was inside one of the rooms because most of us were outside.”
A resident, who did not identify himself, told PUNCH Metro that the little boy’s parents had gone to church while his elder brother did not inform them on time that the deceased was inside the room.
A landlord in the area, Sunday Ogundele stressed the  the need for government disaster management agencies to improve on its response time.
He said, “A fire truck from Lagos State Fire Service arrived but they left because there was no water. When the fire was about spreading to another compound, one of my tenants, who works at the Federal Medical Centre, Oyingbo, called the Federal Fire Service which is close to the hospital but they did not come.
“He then had to drive down to Oyingbo to lead them here. They finally came around 11pm and doused the flames but by then, the deed had been done.”
Abiodun was reportedly  buried at Atan Cemetery, Yaba.
Director, Lagos State Fire Service, Razaq Fadipe,  however, denied the allegations.
He said, “Two fire trucks from Ilupeju and Ikeja with 10,000 litres each responded. They were busy fighting the fire on their own. A journalist and a fireman that live in the area, were the ones that first called our attention to it and we have evidence to show that we responded on time.”

PHOTO: Man Cuts Off His Penis Over Inability To Get Along With Ladies

A Chinese man frustrated at being single cut off his own penis then, in agony, decided to cycle to a hospital for treatment. When he arrived doctors told him they couldn’t help save his manhood and ordered him to cycle back home to get the penis before he could be treated. When Yang Hu, 26, eventually arrived back at
the hospital with the severed member, doctors told him that it had been without blood for too long, and it was impossible to reattach it. Yang’s friends said that he had been increasingly depressed about the fact that since moving to the city he could not find a girlfriend. What was worse, they said, was that he was doing such long hours in a clothing factory in Jiaxing, in Zhejiang province in east China, that he doubted he would ever have a chance to meet a woman. His depression grew so bad that after returning home after work at 9pm on October 27 to his rented room he had suddenly decided to cut off his member as there was no use for it anyway, and believing it would stop him thinking about getting a girlfriend. Incredibly he managed to cycle to the hospital, then cycled home again to collect the severed member and then back to the hospital.

25 Secondary School Students In Coma After Inhaling Industrial Gas At Ogba

NO fewer that 25 students of Ogba Junior Secondary School, Lagos, yesterday, went into coma after inhaling a chemical waste allegedly discharged into drainage by a company, Bizcircuit Photo Laboratory, located a few metres from the school premises.

According to reports, the gas enveloped the school premises at noon. One of the school’s pupils, Adetayo Adekanbi, said: “We were in the classroom when we
perceived the offensive gas and smoke clouding the entire premises. We never knew the gas was injurious. “Immediately I noticed it, I ran towards the gate to escape inhaling the gas. But some of my mates became unconscious after inhaling the gas.” Officials of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, were said to have rushed to the school and moved the unconscious victims to a private hospital nearby and Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH. Security men, however, prevented access to the victims. The Head of Logistic, LASEMA, Mr. Femi Giwa, said that of the 25 victims, four were in critical condition but responding to treatment. Giwa said: “On arrival at the scene, we conducted a general assessment and discovered that certain liquid chemicals, with offensive and choking odour, used for production in the photo lab on the first floor of a shopping complex, could have led to the incident.” He said that Lagos State government immediately sealed the premises of the photo laboratory concerned and arrested three of its staff. Giwa, however, assured that proper investigation would be conducted to analysis the chemical that off the offensive gas and its effect on the environment. State Director of Fire and Safety Services, Mr. Rasaq Fadipe, said officials assisted the rescue team in controlling the chemical fumes from spreading further.

A 40-year old Woman Caught With Dead Day Old Baby In Lagos (Photo)

A 40-year old widow named Mujidat was caught on Wednesday October 30th with a dead day old baby she hid inside a sack in Lagos.
It was gathered that a member of the community, High Chief Babatunde Balogun caught the mother of seven when she was trying to dispose the baby at about 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

When questioned on the content of the sack, she claimed she was coming from the market where she bought some household items.
However, on a closer look, Balogun discovered that the sack contained a dead day old baby the woman allegedly had just delivered. He then called the attention of the other residents. Neighbours told P.M News that after Mujidat’s husband known as Baba Mushin died about three years ago, they have seen men visiting her residence, the house built by her late husband.
When asked if she planned to throw away the baby because of an alleged paternity mess, she denied, claiming that a welder turned block maker near her residence was responsible for the pregnancy that resulted in the birth of the dead baby she was caught with.

She claimed she took delivery of the baby by herself because she found it easy and therefore did not go to any hospital or sought anybody’s help.

At about 9 p.m yesterday when P.M.NEWS visited the area, residents of the area were still milling around the residence of the woman.

Officials of the Community Development Association, CDA, in the area later accompanied the woman and her sack of baby to the Isheri-Oshun Police Division where the matter was reported. At the time of this report, the woman was still being interrogated

SHOCKING VIDEO:Cobras Babysit Sleeping Baby Without Harming Her

I wonder what the parent of the baby will do when they saw their baby surrounded by snakes. Cobra is one of the most venomous snakes in the world and one bite can be lethal if the cure is not delivered in due time.

In this video which has gone viral, four snakes, one on each edge, stand stiff around a baby lying on a blanket with their hoods flared out to intimidate any threat that may approach.

The baby must be used to having the cobras around as she is seen wrapping her arms around one.

Whether the baby was in any actual danger is under dispute as some have pointed out the fangs of these deadly serpents are often removed by cautious snake charmers thereby making them harmless.

Whatever it is, the parents of this child sure have some nerve.

How would you react if you saw four cobras surrounding a baby?

Big Boy! How Iyanya Raked In N130million In Endorsement Deals

Successful Singer Iyanya Mbuk has amassed over N130 million in endorsements deals in 2013 alone.Since his highly successful 2012 monster hit single Kukere, it has been one hit after another, one award after another and one endorsement contract after another for the once impoverished singer.
In the last one year and half, Iyanya has proven that he can be a hit maker disappointing the initial doubts that critics had raised about him when his 2009 debut album My Story flopped.Certainly, Iyanya took the lesson of that album and transformed himself into one of the most sought after Nigerian artistes today placing him on the pedestal where corporate organisations would jostle to do business with him.
Three weeks ago, the singer closed a deal reportedly worth N35 million with mobile phone manufacturing company, SOLO Mobile. According to his publicist, Wildflower PR, the deal was iced with a brand new 2014 Prado SUV.

Earlier in May, the 27 year old singer was lucky enough to have been included in MTNs swoop of some of the major players in the music industry, becoming one of the companys highest paid brand ambassadors in a N40 million deal.

It sure didnt end there. When Zinox Technologies Limited, manufacturer of Nigerias first internationally certified branded computers was looking for a face to represent its brand, guess who quickly came to mind? None other than the rave of the moment, Iyanya. The Leo Stan-Ekeh owned tech-company put pen to paper, inked a deal and made Iyanya N56milion richer, according to those familiar with the details of the deal.

These endorsement deals have gone on to show the relevance Iyanya has in todays music scene. Apart from the occasional engagements, the pop star will begin to appear on billboards and TV commercials preaching the gospel of these brands. From all indications, Iyanya, a Business Management graduate of the University of Calabar and winer of the inaugural MTN Project Fame West Africa, has had quite an awesome 2013.

Speaking to NET, Iyanyas partner Ubi Franklin attributes his success and that of the label to God and hardwork. All thanks and Glory to God because we are actually living out our dream. We are where we are today because of hardwork and passion for what we do.

On why Iyanya seems to be a choice for these brands, Franklin says I guess they all see the potential in Iyanya. They have seen that Iyanya as a brand can do a lot to promote their own brands. He is one of the hardest working artistes I know and he has worked hard to deserve everything he has earned.

In less than one year, Iyanya has upgraded his garage with about three exotic cars. Franklin has done the same too, and three months ago, the team acquired a jeep for their artiste and protg, Nigerian US returnee and singer, Emma Nyra.

The music business is probably one of the most interesting yet difficult businesses in the world and for Iyanya, its been one great ride with the prospect of many good things to come.

Deals - Amount
MTN - N40million
Zinox - N56million

Photo: The Significance of Rihanna’s New Maori Tattoo - A Must Read

Controversial singer Rihanna has added another tattoo to her growing collection of body art as a reminder of her Diamonds world tour. The ink-mad star has over 20 tattoos on her body, including a Sanskrit prayer down her thigh, the goddess Isis on her chest, music notes on her ankle, stars on her back, a gun on her rib cage and the word love on the middle finger of her left hand. She claims they all have spiritual meanings and has said in the past: "My tattoos are all spiritual and show how I feel about religion. I have a falcon which is an Egyptian falcon and is supposed to stand for God."

Rihanna opted to get the traditional style Maori tattoo, which is native to New Zealand where she recently played three concerts. While the rest of her tattoos have been done with the modern tattoo machine that is customary in most studios now, the traditional Ta Moko tattoos are done using more primitive methods involving a chisel, ink pigment and a mallet.

Never one to follow the norm, choosing to get a Maori tattoo done in the old-style method is a lot more painful than regular tattoos, which arent pain-free to start off with! In the two-minute video which shows her getting the tattoo done on her right hand, you can see at points she is struggling with the pain even through smiles and forced laughter. Towards the end of the tattoo where the artists are working on her knuckles you can see her grimacing at the pain as the hammer hits directly on the jointed bones, despite managing to maintain her composure through the main part of the design. At one point, Inia is even seen asking the singer to wipe away the blood from her swollen hand so that he can see what he is doing to continue the design.

The elaborate designs of lines and symbols run from her fingernails down to the middle of her forearm. It was performed by tattooist Inia Taylor at the Moko Ink studio in West Auckland, with the help of local musician Tiki Taane. The tattoo artist explained the designs Rihanna chose illustrate her desire to explore deeper meaning in life. "The symbols involved are of dreams, hope, aspirations and navigation with Polynesian stars on her fingers," he said.

A description for the studio on the Moko Ink website reads: 'Moko Ink is the worlds first Maori Tattoo Studio specialising in the contemporary use and creation of traditional Maori and Polynesian Tatu. We make one off body art keeping alive the language and traditions that are unique to the art form. All our art is custom designed for each person on a consultation basis. The language of Ta Moko is used to design a unique piece of body art expressing aspects that relate to the wearer.'

The history of Maori tattoos dates back hundreds of years. Maori tattoo did not involve the use of needles. Rather, the Maori used knives and chisels made from sharks teeth, sharpened bone, or sharp stones. The chisel, also called the uhi, is made from albatross bone, although some chisels are said to be made of iron. Knives and chisels were either plain and smooth, or serrated, and these were used interchangeably depending on the intended pattern.

The inks that were employed to do a Maori tattoo were made from natural products. Burnt wood was used to create black pigments, while lighter pigments were derived from caterpillars infested with a certain type of fungus, or from burnt Kauri gum mixed with animal fat. The pigment was stored in ornate containers called oko, which became family heirlooms

Tattoo artist Taylor described the emotional process that comes as part of getting the tattoo. "It's not about getting a tattoo, it's a ceremony. Tattoos aren't fashion. They are a way to get rid of pain in your life. You have to create pain to get over pain," He also commented that the star confided in him about her own pain throughout the process. "I didn't realise she had such a hard time. Apparently, she had such an asshole of a boyfriend, she said. The tattoo is just a reminder of the things in the past. Lord knows, she overcame a lot of that s***."

GOD Told Me To Preach but I became a robber instead- 50-Year-Old Robber

photo
The father of one who graduated from stealing to armed robbery was almost lynched to death in Ondo town, Ondo State, by an irate mob on October 8, when he snatched a motorcycle from its rider at gunpoint at about 1p.m. in broad daylight.
Police sources informed Crime Reports that Makinde dispossessed his victim, one Omoniyi, of his Hajue motorcycle with registration number FST 803 QB after he pretended to be a passenger. His victim reportedly raised the alarm which led to the pursuit of the suspect until he was caught. A cut-to-size locally-made gun which Makinde used in attacking his victim was also recovered from him.
It was further gathered that the when the state’s Special Anti-Robbery Squad went to search the suspect’s house, two other locally-made single barrel guns with 12 rounds of live cartridges were recovered. Makinde had told the police that one Clement Francis sold the cartdridges to him while one Oluwasegun Timothy helped him to purchase two guns for N44,000. He also said the third gun was given to him by one Musa Ibrahim.
While speaking with Crime Reports, Makinde confessed to the crime, and revealed that it was not his first time. He, however, attributed his bad deeds to the fact that he refused to heed the call of God to evangelical call.
“A friend of mine, Timothy, helped me in getting two of the guns that were recovered from me.  I paid N22,000 for each. The third gun I was using was given to me by one Musa who asked me to go and get him an okada.
“I stole one okada each in July and August. I saw those ones along farm road. I snatched the third one on October 8 at gunpoint.
“A friend of mine, Abdul, who was also into stealing motorcycles, introduced Musa to me as a buyer but I sold the first two to one Wasiu. He paid N100,000 for them. I have gone with Timothy to his boss’ house before to rob and we got N100,000 which we shared equally. I stole one tonne of cocoa from my mother which I packed into 16 bags and sold at N23,000 each. I started smoking cannabis sativa in 2005.
“I regret what I have been doing because I was supposed to be preaching the gospel of Jesus but I have been running from it. I have turned into an object of shame to my family because of my criminal tendencies. I was not arrested by man but God. Now I am ready to carry my cross and follow Jesus.”
Timothy (34) from Kogi State denied belonging to Makinde’s gang but said he helped him to get two single barrel guns from one Segun who is also a hunter. “Makinde told me he wanted to use the guns for hunting.  I also helped him to pack cocoa seeds from his mother’s house at a time and he gave me N50,000 though I know that what he gave me was more than what I did.
I did not know he stole the cocoa seeds.”
Another suspect, Francis Clement who sold two packs of cartridges to Timothy said he was told that they were meant for hunting.
Musa Ibrahim also denied giving Makinde a gun.
However, the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Wole Ogodo, said that the suspects had all been charged to court after completion of investigation.

Shocking! "I Kidnapped My 9 year old Son To Raise Money For My Girlfriend"

According to reports, A 48-year-old man, yesterday, at the Lagos State command of the Department of State Services, DSS, gave a starling revelation of how he masterminded the kidnap of his nine-year-old son in Badagry area of Lagos.

The suspect, Adeyinka Adebayo, who admitted to have connived with his 28-year-old girlfriend, Kehinde Alonge, said he committed the act to generate money from his church members.

He added that the supposed ransom was to meet up with his girlfriend's demand.

Parading the suspect alongside his girlfriend before journalists, the Director, Lagos State Command, DSS, Mr. Victor Achu, explained that Adebayo had on October 3 reported at the command that his son had been kidnapped.

Achu said: "The command swung into action. Preliminary investigations confirmed the kidnap of the boy by one Kehinde Alonge, who demanded a ransom of N350,000 for his release and directed that the money be paid into a UBA account.

"The account was later discovered to be owned by one Taiwo Faloye. After series of tactical planning, the owner of the account and Kehinde were arrested at Ilesha, Osun State, while trying to withdraw the money."

Drama
A mild drama, however, unfolded following an argument between Adebayo and his girlfriend over who brought up the kidnap plan.

While Adebayo claimed that Kehinde hatched the plan to get the N200,000 she needed to open a hairdressing saloon, the later interrupted, stating that "he is lying. I was in Ilesha when he called me to come to Lagos that some people owed him money.

"He said the only way to collect the money from them was for me to come and take his son away, while he pretends that he had been kidnapped.

"I came to Lagos on October 4. I intended going to the school to pick the boy, but Adebayo advised I picked him from the house.

"Since the children knew me, I told the boy to follow me to get something outside and entered the next available vehicle to Ilesha, Osun State. His father even gave me N3,000 for transport.

"When we got to Ilesha, he sent another N3,750 worth of recharge cards for his feeding. He even called his son on phone daily. He was the one that asked me to demand N350,000.

"However, at the end of the bargain, he said I should accept N200,000. Since I had no bank account, I asked one of my relatives to give me his account details. But we were arrested at the point of withdrawal."

'She needed money'

However, Adebayo, a father of two, said: "My girlfriend said she needed money to open her own hair dressing saloon. Since I was not financially buoyant, I decided to raise money by masterminding my son's kidnap.

"I am a vulcanizer and business had not been booming. Anyone I approached for money usually declined to assist me.

"To get money from my church members in particular, I had to mastermind my son's kidnap.

"He spent nine days at my girlfriend's house. At the end of the day, I was able to raise N450,000 from my church members and friends, who earlier refused to help me.

"I regret my action because my son may never forgive me if he is told. I feel ashamed also because his mother has been down with stroke, though we are no longer married.

"I beg to be forgiven. It was the handiwork of the devil."

The suspects, according to Ochu, would be charged to court.
