A Dance For Life: Monalisa Chinda’s Christmas Gitf

Lagos is set to witness the most sophisticated dance production of the decade come next Monday, Christmas eve, as Nollywood’s top actress, Monalisa Chinda stuns Nigeria’s theatre with the maiden edition of her world class stage production titled, Project Help: A Dance for Life.

The play to be staged at the prestigious Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, is an enactment of a thrilling classical contemporary dance powered by the incredible Bailamos Dance Company, an ensemble that has treated Nigerian aristocrats, elites and technocrats to the best ecstatic performances.

It is being directed by choreography wizard,BunmiOlunloyo. But Project Help, according to the actress promises more. It is a night that will parade the best of Nollywood stars in an amazing dance-styli form that is bound to leave audience spellbound.

Featuring an array of Nigeria’s biggest superstars including, Desmond Elliot, Kate Henshaw, Segun Arinze, Bimbo Akintola, Bovi, Saeon, the prima ballerina, Monalisa Chinda and many more. The breathtaking dance production will showcase even more theatrical elements and aesthetics as the Nollywood stars will also deliver electrifying performances that will intensify the tempo of this historical Christmas dance production.

Speaking recently about the inspiration behind the highly anticipated event, Monalisa enthusiastically stated, “I’ve been nurturing the dance production idea for quite a while but my several engagements wouldn’t avail me enough time, so I kept developing it.

I’ve always wanted a production, away from the norms, where people can experience classical recitals at its very best.” “While thisremains a great way to celebrate Christmas with loved ones, I also see it as a powerful means of awakening the dwindling culture of theatre in Africa at large. We’ve been working on this for a while and it promises tobe a memorable atmosphere of unlimited ecstasy, joy and bliss,” she affirms.

Man. City Mildfielder, Yaya Toure Retains African Footballer of the Year Title

Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure has retained the African Footballer of the Year title.

The Ivory Coast international held off competition from compatriot Didier Drogba and Cameroon’s Alex Song, who plays for Barcelona.

The 29-year-old was adjudged winner of the continent’s highest individual football prize for 2012 by coaches of national teams affiliated to the Confederation of African Football (Caf).

“This night is so special for me,” Toure said after receiving the prize in Ghana’s capital, Accra on Thursday. “Thanks to all of you. Even my captain is here today. Thanks to everyone and we are happy for this award.”

The Ivorian was in powerful form for Ivory Coastin the Africa Cup of Nations earlier in the season, and was unfortunate to see his side lose in the final to Zambia, in a penalty shootout.

Toure returned to his club, however, in inspired form and helped City to a first Premier League title in 44 years - a double at Newcastle in the penultimate game of the season proving vital to the cause.

The midfielder has taken that form over to 2012-13 and has scored six goals in 23 appearances so far this season, as well as captaining the side in Vincent Kompany's recent absence.

Winners of the other categories are:

National Team of the Year – Zambia
National Women’s Team of the Year – Equatorial Guinea
Club of the Year – Al Ahly
Fair Play Award – Gabon Supporters Union
Coach of the Year Award – Herve Renard
Most Promising Talent Award – Mohamed Salah (Egypt)

Hon. Obahiagbon Talks About The Jubilation Of Kaduna Muslim Youths Over Yakowa's Death

"Whilst I feel tongue tied that we are witnessing another 'air mishap' that has taken the lives of fellow Nigerians, I am utterly shocked to hear of the jubilation in certain Northern political quarters and muslimyouths in Kaduna State. Just too too cruddy and it is beyond the fugacious razzmatazz of the moment.

"I seriously call attention to the rutilanting and coruscating modus vivendi of Master Jesus the Christ and I dare pontificate that save and until we viscerally emblematize the virtues of self-immolation, quintessential abnegation, eulogizeable simplicity, humility and immerse ourselves in a platonic emotionalism of agape love and communalistic service and head to unity as one nation," the Edo State law graduate stated.
