A Michigan man is being held in the Kalamazoo County Jail on one count of assault with intent to commit murder after he allegedly beat one of his massage clients with a baseball bat and left him in a dumpster.
Kalamazoo Public Safety Detective Brian Beauchamp testified in court that masseuse Drew Thorngate was contacted by the alleged victim, identified only as F.V-P, on Nov. 5 “to request services for a massage.”
“There had been previous attempts to schedule a session for a massage and the victim had stood up Mr. Thorngate,” Beauchamp said.
When Thorngate met up with the 30-year-old victim, they got into an argument.
Beauchamp testified in front of Kalamazoo County Magistrate Nicholas Schaberg that Thorngate then “took a baseball bat and hit Mr. F.V-P in the back of the head,” and that “(Thorngate) then dragged him to a dumpster, placed him in the dumpster and subsequently left.”
The suspect, who detectives were able to identify via phone records, then returned to the dumpster with bleach and “tried to clean up the scene and then dumped bleach on the victim as well and fled.”
The victim is still listed in critical condition at Bronson Methodist Hospital
After hearing Beauchamp’s testimony, Schaberg issued a warrant for Thorngate and he was arraigned on Friday in district court.
