Niger State Police Command on Wednesday arrested three persons for allegedly beheading a 10-year-old boy in Amale Village in Paiko Local Government Area of the state for rituals.
It
was gathered that one Salleh Ibrahim lured the victim and took him from
Amale to two of his accomplices, Usman Sarki, and Dantala Doma.
During
police interrogation, Sarki confessed that he was contracted to bring
the boy’s head by one Gajere who was on the run for money-making ritual.
He
said he found the boy along Amale road. "I asked him where was going,
he said he was going to his house. I offered to help him. So I took him
on my bike to Sarki’s house. “Sarki and I later took him to Doma’s house
where he wasbeheaded with a cutlass.
During
investigation, the severed head of the boy was found in Salleh’s house
After the discovery of the head in Salleh’s house, the suspect took the
police to an area near river Erena in Shiroro Local Government Area of
the state and that's where the headless body of the boy was found buried
in a shallow grave.
Salleh later took the police to the residence of the other two accomplices.
The
state’s Police Public Relations Officer, Richard Oguche, said
investigation into the matter had commenced, adding that the suspects
would be arraigned in court at the conclusion of the investigation.
He
said the command had directed all police out posts within Kaffin-koro
division and the Divisional Police Officer in Kaffin-koro to reach out
to the community leaders in the area to know if there was any reported
case of a missing child but no such report had been received.
He called on parents to always monitor the movement of their children so as not to fall into the hands of ritual killers.
