A 32-year-old man,Mr. Akinsola Ajayi, has been arrainged before a Sabo Magistrate’s Court, sitting in Lagos for allegedly beating up his landlord and attacking a policeman, tearing his singlet which he alleged, cost N90,000.
The defendant is facing a five counts charge of assault and malicious damage.

However, when the case was called up in court, the prosecution could not read the charge sheet clearly. Hence after several failed attempts, the Magistrate, Mrs. Bola Folarin-Williams, halted the proceeding in anger.
She said, “Who are you reading the charge sheet to? Is it to the court or the accused person? Are you strange to this court? You don’t know how to read the charge sheet or what?”
Folarin-Williams subsequently adjourned the case until April 23 and ordered Ajayi to be returned to detention.
The charge sheet reads in part, “That you, Akinsola Ajayi on December 5, 2012 at about 10.30pm at 13 Adebolu Street Bariga in the Lagos Magisterial district, did conduct yourself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by unlawfully disorganising the peaceful environment of the Street and throwing out bucket, property of one Ibrahim Olusesi and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 166 (d) of criminal law of Lagos State.”
