An HIV positive man who had sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old girl in a scooter twice and gave her R5 was sentenced to four years in jail.
The man took advantage of the situation after the girl was sent to the shops to buy some tomatoes.
Washington Choruwa (45) called her to his table at Jambanja market in Chitungwiza, lured her and sexually abused her. He was facing two counts of rape when he appeared before Chitungwiza regional magistrate Ms Estere Chivasa.
He denied both counts and was later convicted of a lesser charge of contravening section (70), which forbids having sex with a minor. Ms Chivasa slapped him with a six-year jail term but set aside two years on condition of good behaviour.
