A pastor in Tororo, Uganda was arrested by police after allegedly tying a 5-year-old boy to a pole and tortured her for stealing electricity bulbs which had been in church.
The 35-year-old pastor of a Pentecostal church in Kasoli of Tororo municipality is said to have tiedthe girl to an electricity pole. Officer in charge of child and family protection unit at Tororo Central Police, Ms. Jane Nakizza confirmed the arrest saying the pastor was arrested after police was called by a passerby who heard the girl yelling.
Ms. Nakizza said he is being held for child abuse as investigations continue into the matter. “Although the suspect has been remorseful, apologetic and regretted the act saying it was bad for a man of God, he will face charges of child abuse,” she said.
