2012 Top5 Richest Rapper

Earlier in the year, Forbes Magazine released the Top-5 Richest Rappers Of 2012 with Diddy on topthe list for the second year, Jay-Z dropped downto second after coming first in 2010.

Many of these rappers rose from rags to riches by tirelessly working simultaneously as producers, writers, musicians and businessmen.

However, their hard work has quite literally paid off and has made them millions, according to Forbes.

In case you missed it before, below is the FORBES 2012 Top Five Wealthiest Rappers:

1. Sean “Diddy” Combs
As of April 2012, his Net Worth was a cool $550 million.
Earnings according to Forbes: 2011: $35 million, 2010: $30 million

Diddy’s business ventures, along with his career as a rapper, made him the richest rapper on the planet, built fortune chiefly through clothing line Sean John, record label Bad Boy and Ciroc vodka. Acting gigs, television shows and guest appearances add to coffers. He told Forbes in 1999: “I’m gonna be bigger than David Geffen.” Not there yet though, but if there’s anyone who can get there, Diddy can.

2. Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter
Net Worth: $460 million – As of April 2012
Earnings according to Forbes: 2011: $37 million, 2010: $63 million
Beyonce’s sweetheart and father of one of the most popular babies in Hollywood, Jay-Z sold Rocawear clothing label for $204 million in 2007; signed 10-year $150 million Live Nation deal in 2008. Now boasts an impressive portfolio, including shares in the New Jersey Nets as well as his input in fashion, music and restaurant business.

3. Andre “Dr. Dre” Young
Net Worth: $260 million – As of April 2012
Earnings according to Forbes: 2011: $14 million, 2010: $17 million
Superproducer/rapper,Dr. Dre may not have put out a new album in the last 10 years, but the rapper and producer has reaped the rewards from his business. He helped launch careers of Snoop Dogg, Eminem, 50 Cent, expanded wealth with Aftermath record label, Beats headphones and HP laptop line. On 11th August 2011, Dr Dre reportedly sold 50% stake in Beats Electronics, the headphone company to Taiwanese smartphone maker HTC for £191 million ($310m).

4. Bryan “Birdman” Williams
Net Worth: $125 million – As of April 2012
May 2010 to May 2011 Earnings according to Forbes: $15 million
Bryan ‘Birdman’ Williams; cofounded Cash Money Records with brother Ronald and inked $30 milliondistribution deal with Universal in 1998; affiliated Young Money lineup now includes rappers Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj. Lyrical boasts (“Richer than the richest!”) are simply not true. Bird has an estimated net worth of $110 million as of September 2011.

5. Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson
Net Worth: $110 million – As of April 2012
Earnings according to Forbes: 2010: $6 million, 2009: $8 million
50 cent has made it to the top five particularly for his business-savvy, as the rapper got a neat nine-figure payout from the sales of Vitamin Water, when it was sold to Coca Cola; spent freely on cars, renovations to the mansion formerly owned by Mike Tyson. Cushion remains from catalog, acting gigs and 50 Cent-themed video games, books, clothes and headphones.

They are rappers, but their business acumen is amazing. From their own headphones, booze, clothing lines, sports teams, record labels and album sales, everything these rappers touch turns to gold.

Although Forbes rating was done using the artistes’ net worth as at April, sources say the year couldn’t have ended with another rating as they believe each of the rappers held on to their spots, raking in more millions though. Except Jay-Z hits a mega deal in the remaining days of the year, P Diddy is surely ending the year as the rapper who made dollars the most.

Covenant University Expels About 200 Students For Not Attending Church Service

About 200 students may have been expelled by the authorities of Covenant University, Cannanland, Ota, Ogun State, recently for what was described as "disregard of paramount core values."

Frustrated and angered by the development, some of the affected students who gave account of what happened battled emotions while narrating their situations to Saturday Vanguard recently. They however pleaded with the school authorities to tamper justice with mercy in order to save their future.

Saturday Vanguard investigation revealed that out of the figure, about 126 were expelled for not attending the 'departure service', meant to sign off from the school after the end of the Semester and Matriculation of students on November 30. Five other students were thrown out for smoking while unconfirmed source said additional 60 got the same fate for violating other rules bordering on the University's core values. A few others were given four weeks suspension for failure to sign the head count that was conducted a couple of weeks earlier.

A letter of expulsion signed by the Registrar, Ntia Ubong, a copy which was made available to Saturday Vanguard stated that the affected students contravened Chapter 1, section 30, page 40 of the 2010-2014 Student Handbook.

We gathered that the massive expulsion was predicated on the anger of the Chancellor, Bishop David Oyedepo who was said to have been infuriated after seeing students loitering around when they were supposed to be at the Chapel for the Departure Service.

He was said to have personally chased students to the Chapel and ordered for a search into all the halls and colleges to fish out those who did not attend the service.

Several attempts to get the school authorities comment on the issue proved abortive. The Instituion's Corporate Affairs Head, Mr Igban Emmaunel also refused to comment as calls pulled through to him were unanswered and text messages not replied.

How it happened
A few of the affected students gave account of what happened to Saturday Vanguard at different points. The similar accounts go thus: "On November 30, the last day of the semester, preceding our December break, there was also a Matriculation for the 100 level students; in fact some students had their last semester exams on that day, some of them finished around 3:00pm while the matriculation started around 8am. Some students retired to their rooms to relax while some engaged in some other activities jubilating the end of the semester.

"Some also got drinks from the matriculating students. Even as these were going on, some students who finished around 3pm retired to their halls. By 5pm, they announced that we should get prepared for the 'Departure service' which was to start by 8pm. Some students were already seeing their parents off while some of us were just trying to relax to get off the stress of the exams.

"Most of us hadn't gotten through the tiredness of the sleepless nights of the exams; so, some us stayed back in our rooms. The departure service is usually a day before we go home and it is usually presided over by the Chancellor. Before the commencement of the service, they used to lock up the main doors of the halls so as to prevent cases of theft. I was not bothered since there were a lot of us in the hall. Some minutes past 8pm, they switched off the light and all of us in the hall went into our rooms. Because of the darkness and the cold, I slept off immediately."

He continued: "The persistent knocks on the door woke me up and I realised that they had come to search for people who had not come to service. Before I realised what was going on, I found myself with other students numbering about 30.

They took down our names and counted us to make sure that no one was omitted. They said the Chancellor was at the service and we refused to come. I heard them talking about other halls and they asked us to wait. I didn't take it seriously because I never believed in my widest imagination that we would be expelled. We were later asked to go to our various halls.

"Some of those who went into hiding were lucky as they were not found. Shortly, those who went for the service returned and told us there was poor attendance at the Chapel and how students were diving in through the windows, scampering for seats. In fact, one narrated to us how the Chancellor jumped through the window to vent his anger on some students who had jumped in," he stated.

Another expelled student also gave similar account of the incident. "I couldn't go to the service because, I was not feeling well which was as a result of the stress of the exams we had just finished. After a while, I managed to go but I heard that they started driving people back around 7:30pm while the service was to start around 8pm. I was surprised because the rule was that you've got to be seated 15minutes to the service. Again, it was never made compulsory, but they tried to get students out of the halls to prevent cases of theft. So, because I was not feeling well, I went back to my room because I needed to rest for a while.

"I thought it was a joke when they said we are in for expulsion because we failed to come for departure service. I have never done anything contrary to the school laws. I have never faced any panel before and neither did I have any unpleasant case in my file. I never thought it was real until letters were handed to me the following morning."

Giving account of how letters were handed out to them, the visibly troubled student said: "By 6am, they announced the names of those who were caught in halls and colleges. Usually after the departure service, one can sign out from there and go but because it ended late and no one could travel, students had to wait till the following morning. But the hall officer told those of us whose names were written down that if we leave, we should be considered gone from the university forever. That gave us an insight into what was likely to come as punishment. By 7:45am, we were called once again to go downstairs for our letters. Those who collected theirs before mine were crying and I wondered what the punishment could be until I read the letter stating I was expelled from the university."

At the Chapel

Another student who found his way to the Chapel also told Saturday Vanguard that while the Chancellor was being driven past, he noticed that students were loitering at about the time they were supposed to be seated at the chapel. He said that this apparently infuriated him and he alighted from his car and chased students to the chapel with knocks. "I saw him, alighted from his car and chased students to the chapel; I quickly found my way to the hall. Not quite long after, I saw students jumping in through the windows. It was a big commotion. Even the chancellor was going after those who jumped into the chapel. Later, he addressed the students saying he was very disappointed by the behaviour that the students were not seated 15 minutes before the service."

Another account had it that while the Education Secretary, Prof. Aize Obayan was addressing the students, the students were murmuring, then the Chancellor immediately took to the microphone and said: "if I hear the voice of any student, the curse of the Lord shall fall upon that one." The chapel immediately went dead silent.

Our source who was also late to the service stated that the Chancellor later directed that those students who did not come to the service would be purged out saying they did not belong to the school. Our source stated that at the end of the service, he prayed for the students in the hall.

Another source in the school hinted that at that point, the Vice-chancellor pleaded on behalf of those who were absent but the Chancellor insisted they must be purged from the school.

Our source told Saturday Vanguard that the Vice-Chancellor while addressing the students announced that a search would be carried out in all the halls and colleges to find out those who failed to attend the departure service, advising them to wait behind.

Saturday Vanguard investigation revealed that out of the figure, about 126 were expelled for not attending the 'departure service', five were thrown out for smoking marijuana, twenty-five final year students and undisclosed number of lower level students were caught violating rules bothering on the University's core values. We also gathered that a few others were given four weeks suspension for failure to sign the head count that was conducted a couple of weeks earlier. Some of the students opined that failure to sign the head count was even a greater offence which implied that the student was not in the school at the time of the exercise but yet got a four-week suspension.

The private university is known for its strict rules and discipline such as not allowing the students to use mobile phones within the school's premises, while it is mandatory for students to always bring their bible to the chapel.

Parents react

A few parents who volunteered information spoke to us on condition of anonymity fearing that their children might be victimised in case the issue was resolved amicably. One of them said with bitterness that it is unacceptable, adding that the expulsion was not commensurate with the offence deemed to have been committed. He urged the school authorities to rescind its decision adding that the future of the students is at stake.

"For me, it is not acceptable. These students were not given fair hearing. Expulsion should not be a punishment for failure to attend service. We all agree, it is a Christian school but failure to attend church service could be due to a lot of reasons. I gathered that some of the students even finished their exams about 5pm that day. So, those people that finished at that time had barely three hours to prepare for the service.

But stampeding them to congregate for service and then expelling those who did not come is a decision taken too far. For me, if there was poor attendance, I think the authorities have a responsibility. They have not been fair in putting the service so close to the examination. Even God will not do that."

He however commended the Chancellor, Dr. Oyedepo on his vision towards the education of Nigeria children especially when the government institutions are failing, but urging him to tamper justice with mercy.

Another parent who was afraid of the press noted that he was still studying the situation and would not want to comment but noted that he was reliably informed that some group of parents made frantic efforts to meet with the Chancellor on the issue but without success. It was not clear the level of the efforts made. He further hinted that some students have not told their parents about their expulsion, still hoping that the issue would be resolved.

He lamented that his child had been having sleepless nights, going through mental torture unjustifiably. "I agree that discipline must be instilled in the students but it should not be aimed at destroying the life of the students.

Expulsion is too great a punishment for non attendance of a departure service, without even a warning especially when the students hitherto, had not been found wanting," he stated.

What the Student Handbook says

The Covenant University Core values border on Spirituality, Possibility Mentality, Capacity Building, Integrity, Responsibility, Diligence and Sacrifice. On the spirituality aspect, it states: "The Christian ethos underguard our activities and conducts at all time and every student of Covenant University is expected to exhibit character traits and dispositions of a Jesus-centered heritage. The Jesus - factor centered approach to all issues is non-negotiable and central in the pursuit of our mandate in raising a new generation of leaders and in the realization of the objectives of our purpose.

To this extent therefore, students will be committed to maintaining a high level of spirituality and shall act in such manner as to facilitate their spiritual growth as well as work out ways to evolve and implement a spiritual development plan. Attendance at Chapel Services is a compulsory part of students' spiritual development where a bible and notebook are essential kits for the service. Students are expected to demonstrate a deep reverence for God at all times."

The school declines comment

Several attempts were made to get the school authorities comment on the issue. The institution's Corporate/Public Affairs Officer, Mr Igban Emmanuel Kalu declined comment. At first, several calls were pulled through to him but he refused to pick his calls. When the reporter persisted, he later picked but said he was driving and could not answer any question. But few hours later, other calls pulled to him were unanswered. A text message was sent to his phone and up to the time of writing this report, he did not reply.

I'm not aware -Prof Julius Okojie, NUC Executive Secretary
The Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission, NUC, Prof Julius Okojie said he has not been briefed on the matter.
Prof Okojie stated this during a telephone conversation Saturday Vanguard had with him a few days ago. "I am not aware of any expulsion by Covenant University; I will ask the school authorities. Right now, I am not in Abuja, I left Abuja few days ago and until I return to Abuja and find out details about the matter, I cannot comment on it," he said.

Tonto Dikeh is Nollywood Most Controversial actress Of The Year

Whether you believe it or not, Tonto Dikeh is the most controversial actress who rocked Nollywood in the outgoing year.

A product of Next Movie Star, Tonto Dikeh since she hit the limelight few years ago has never seized to be at the centre of controversy. The outgoing year is no different.

Her controversial lifestyle became more glaring this year judging from most of her unbecoming exploits. After the noise generated by her new tattoo last year, Tonto continued with her ‘wild lifestyle’,stepping on people’s toes and damning her critics. Her newly released singles,Hi and Itz Ova, did not help matters even though the singles became two of the most listened and downloaded tracks, with over 500,000 views.

Dikeh, who joined the bandwagon of other actors who succumbed to the moonlighting itch to delve into music, was lampooned and criticised by her fans for the uninspiring singles. Yet, she was not deterred. While she was battling to find her feet in the music circle, her foes romantically linked her to the Kukere crooner, Iyanya who squealers said was seeing Ghanaian leggy actress, Yvonne Nelson. For Iyanya and Tonto Dikeh it was all about who has left who for who.

However, this whole saga began when Yvonne Nelson took to the internet to vent her feelings after Iyanya dumped her for Tonto Dikeh. The drama continued unabated until Tonto Dikeh replied Yvonne’s tweet and the two actresses took their rivalry to Blackberry messenger (BBM) where they threw ‘nasty’ insults at each other.

Breaking News – Gov Idris Wada of Kogi State in a Fatal Car Accident

GOVERNOR Idris Wada of kogi state was on Friday involved in a ghastly motor accident along Ajaokuta-Lokoja road on his way to Lokoja, the state capital, after attending the annual Igala education summit held at theKogi State University, Anyigba.

Eyewitness informed our correspondent thatthe governor’s convoy which was on high speed in order to meet up with another assignment in Lokoja on getting to Emi-Woro village in Ajaokuta local government area of the state, about 12 kilometer to the state capital when one of the tyres of the staff jeep suddenly bust off.

“In the process the jeep driver lost control and ended up in a ditch leading to the death of the governor Aide-de-camp [ADC], Idris Mohammed, an Assistant Superintendent of Police [ASP] who died on the spot.

Other members of the governor’s aides who were on the convoy immediately rushed the governor to the state specialist hospital where the governor was taken into the emergency care unit for treatment.

However, newsmen were prevented from having access to the governor and to know his state of health as heavily armed security agents were deployed to the hospital.

Also in Government House, heavily armed security agents were also on guard preventing both workers and newsmen from entering the complex.

Those allowed to enter the office were close aides of the governor and all of them declined to talk to the press.

But sources close to the hospital informed reporters that in order to save the life of the governor, doctors advised that he should be taken to National Hospital, Abuja for urgent treatment.

Immediately after this information was divulged, a Kogi state government house ambulance with registration number KG33 was seen driving toward the emergency unit. Within a minute, security agents took over the unit preventing newsmen from taking pictures of the governor until he was taken into the ambulance and driven out with high speed to Abuja.

Back in September, Shakira announced the news, telling her Facebook fans, “Gerard and Iare very happy awaiting the arrival of our first baby. At this time, we have decided to give priority to this unique moment in our lives.”

Shakira had been embracing her first pregnancy, recently telling fans, “I could have another nine months like this.” But it only is going to get more exciting for Shakira and Gerard. They will now spend their days feeding the baby, changing the baby, and getting to share all of the amazing moments and milestones their little one will reach.

“Shakira is really looking forward to being a mother,” a source recently told Us Weekly. “They definitely want more than one together.”

So far, there’s no word on how big or long he was (or even a name), but judging by his parents, he’s going to be one talented little fella!

Chris Brown was paid $1 million for Lagos Concert

Popular singer Chris Brown was paid at least $1m (about N156m) to travel down to Lagos with a 15 man crew last week, NET investigations have revealed.

The Grammy-winning singer stopped over in South Africa, for concerts in Cape Town and Jo’burg, before heading down to Lagos for the show.

The Lagos event, built into Brown’s on-going world tour, was organised by Kilimanjaro Events – same company that promoted Rick Ross and Anita Baker in the past.

Financial details were not made public, but we found that Oando boss Wale Tinubu was a major financier, as well as Etisalat, which provided last minute sponsorship.

Brown was to make a brief appearance at the Oando end-of-year gig, but we’re told that did not happen.

It was Brown’s second time in Nigeria, the first being for a THISDAY Music Festival performance a few years ago.

Sources told us the fees ‘could have been more’ if he was required to perform with a live band or if he had to do multiple venues or cities.

Although he performed with a DJ and backing track, with two back-up singers and four dancers, he gave a good account of himself, treating fans to almost two hours of a well-planned set that left guests asking for more.
Chris Brown’s tour will continue early next year with a scheduled performance in Cote D’Ivoire.

Mario Baloteli's Younger Brother Arrested For Assulting Two Police Men

Manchester City star Mario Balotelli’s brother appeared in an Italian court on Christmas Eve accused of assaulting two policemen.

Enoch Barwuah, 20, who had trials with Stoke City and Sunderland before signing for Salford City last month, was held after a brawl at a bar and kept in custody until his appearance before a judge.

The court heard how he had been attacked as he drank in a bar in Brescia with his sister Abigail by a man who ripped his shirt but Barwuah then turned on police who had been called by the owner.

Officers said they found him in the street shirtlessand barefooted and when they approached they were kicked and punched, while their squad car was also damaged in the incident.

The court bailed Barwuah to his home address in Brescia until January 3, when he will have a fast track trial accused of a assault and resisting arrest. At his hearing he apologised and said his reactions had been ‘unjustified’ but he had become concerned after his sister ‘felt ill’ during the attack.

Barwuah is Balotelli’s younger brother and apart from Abigail he also has a sister Angel – they remained with his natural parents while he was adopted as a baby by a wealthy Italian couple.

The 10 hottest Nigerian rappers of 2012

There was a sharp decline in the release of Hip-Hop materials in 2012, notwithstanding, a handful of rappers managed to do us proud.
Here is our top 10 list for the hottest rappers in Nigeria of 2012….

10. PHYNO : The Igbo-speaking rapper proved his worth in 2012 releasing the duet ‘Ghost mode’ with Olamide, bagging three nominations at The Headies, and then collaborating with Illbliss on ‘Amanchi Kwanu’.

9. D’PRINCE : The MAVIN act started this year with controversies over his actual record deal with former label Mo’Hits but bounced back with yet another banger ‘Take banana’ off the MAVIN compilation ‘Solar Plexus’. He finally released his debut ‘FRENZY!’ featuring the likes of M.I, Wizkid and others.

8 . MODENINE : Nigel Benn didn’t drop his long awaited album in 2012 due to record label issues but turned it up with two mixtapes ‘Occupy The Throne’ and ‘Alphabetical Order’ with XYZ. He was one of the judges at the ‘Nokia Don’t Break the Beat’ rap competition which led to his verbal face-off with female rapper Muna that put him onthe headlines for weeks before they eventually squashed it an Industry Nite gig.

7 . ILLBLISS : The ‘Ibo Boy’ finally returned with his A-game in 2012 after a subtle absence. Although he spent most of the year grooming R&B singer Chidinma who is currently under his Gorettilabel, he released his ‘Oga Boss’ album with the hits ‘Anamachi Kwanu’ feat Phyno and Heartbeatsfeat Banky W.

6. NAETO C : Mr Super C kept it pushing this year, the most remarkable thing was signing on as a Hennessey Artistry headliner along with M.I. He also released his ‘Tony Montana’ single and remix with a big budget video featuring D’banj. Away from music a bit; he tied the knot with his beau Nicole at a high society wedding.

5. REMINISCE : In 2012, Mr Remilekun Safaru finally got the respect he’s been clamouring for by working hard on his skills and street image. Being one of the two Yoruba-lingo rappers to dominate this year, Remi pulled stunts with the release of his debut ‘Book of Rap Stories’ which brought the street anthems ‘Kako bi chicken’ and ‘2musssh’. He dedicated two weeks throwing jabs at another rapper Vector and spent the latter part of the year performing outside the country.

4. M.I : Jude Abaga takes fourth spot for releasing the ‘dopest’ mixtape of the year ‘Illegal Music 2’ which he launched on his website MIABAGA.comand renewing his contract as VP at his label Chocolate City in April (dispelling rumourshe was leaving the label, following the launch of his Loopy Music label). He also was the the Hennessy Artistry co-headliner alongside Naeto C…

3. OLAMIDE : The Yoruba-speaking lyricist took the world by storm, returning with a powerful sophomore, what we might call the rap album of the year. Olamide’s’ ‘YBNL’ which produced the singles ‘Voice of the Streets’ and ‘First of all’ was released in the latter part of 2012 and showed a lot of improvement lyrically. He parted way with CODED Tunes and launched his own label YBNL Nation working with Tony Nwankolo as his manager.

2. VECTOR : V.E.C was quite busy all year – performing, recording or touring. He won two awards each at the Nigerian Entertainment Awards as well as the coveted ‘Lyricist on the roll’ at The Headies. In 2012, he also recorded and released a song and video with Jamaican dancehall singer Mavado. He has also recorded with rapper DMX. He released his ‘Bar Racks’ mixtape only to drop the album’ The Second Coming’ in December.

1. ICE PRINCE : If the rap game was a marathon race, in 2012 Panshak Zamani left his colleagues behind by kilometres. The rapper clearly made themost money this year, performing back-to-back in and out of the country – the after effect of hisdebut ‘Everybody Loves Ice Prince’. When NET broke the news about the Choc City act’s baby, he initially denied, but he’s since confirmed the baby’s his accepted responsibility. He ended the year pretty well by co- hosting the Chanel O Awards after releasing two new singles ‘Aboki’ and ‘More’.
ROOKIE OF THE YEAR : That title goes to upcoming rapper Boogey who only in 2012 featured on Modenine, M.I and Terry tha Rapman’s mixtapes. He successfully released his mixtape ‘ Artificial Intelligence ’ and reportedly signed a deal before calling 2012 wrap.

Chelsea manager Rafael Benitez hailed his side’s improvement after a scintillating 8-0 home win over Aston Villa on Sunday.

The Blues blew away Paul Lambert’s men to move into third place in the Premier League – and Benitez refused to rule out a title challenge despite his team sitting 12 points behind leaders Manchester United with a game in hand.

“You can see the team improving,” Benitez told reporters. “With this type of performance, we willtry to be as close as possible [to the title].

“To win is always special but the main thing is to see the team progressing and improving. Every training session we adjust little things and you can see the team growing.

“The players were really focused from day one. They have been trying to learn and improve. I think you can see the team is really concentrated, with belief and confidence in themselves.

“Now we have to sustain this run, keep winning games and then it will be easier for me to send the message across that we can compete.”

Benitez, who was appointed interim boss in November, also reserved praise for Fernando Torres after the Spaniard scored his 13th goal ofthe season to open the scoring with a superb third-minute header.

“As a striker, he needed to score goals,” he added.“The team is doing well, he has more chances and confidence because he is scoring goals.”

Meanwhile, Benitez confirmed that Daniel Sturridge has been at Liverpool undergoing a medical ahead of his proposed £12 million transferto the Merseyside club in January.

Benitez said: “The information I had was that he was there [at Liverpool] having the medical. I don’t have any more information because I have been focusing on the game, so we will let you know. I think he’s a good player, he has all the talent.”

Photo: Man Excretes 90 Wraps Of Cocaine In 2 Weeks

A suspected drug trafficker recently excreted 90 wraps of a substance believed to be cocaine in 14 days.

The suspect, Peter Onyeagba, 40, allegedly tested positive for drug ingestion after his arrest at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos during an inward screening of passengers on a Kenyan Airways flight. He was arrested by officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.

NDLEA Airport Commander, Hamza Umar, confirmed the arrest. He said, “Onyeagba is the longest observed drug suspect since January 2012. He began excretion the day he was arrested and took two weeks to complete observation. Some others concludethe evacuation of ingested drugs in three days, while a majority last for a week. This isthe longest observed case since January.”

Onyeagba, who sells building materials for a living, is a resident of Lome, Togo. After travelling to Brazil on Nov. 15, 2012 through Ghana, Onyeagba reportedly spent two weeks in Brazil before his return to Nigeria.

Ingested drugs, according to the agency, could last for a few weeks with minimal effects on a courier if the pellets of drugs remain sealed. It could however kill in a few minutes if there is a leakage.

Onyegaba told CRIME DIGEST that he was avictim of greed. He said, “I have been selling building materials in Togo for over 10 years. I was on a business trip to Brazil with $8,000 and had planned on visiting Nigeria. Some of my friends that we usually meet in a drinking bar introduced me into drugs.

“They told me that instead of going back to Nigeria with nothing, that I should take somedrugs and earn $3,000. I was not forced to smuggle the drug; I only decided to give it a try after much persuasion. I was interested in making an additional $3,000.”

The Chairman/Chief Executive of the NDLEA, Ahmadu Giade, reiterated the agency’s decision to continue the fight against drug traffickers.
He said, “One of our strategies is to be vigilant and ensure that any suspectcaught is duly prosecuted to deter others. Most suspects are just lured by greed.”

Photos of a Baby Girl Born With Skin Covering Eyes

Ten-month-old Liaoliao was born with skin covering her eyes. Only about one hundred patients in the world suffer from the condition called cryptophthalmia. After an operation on herright eye, Liaoliao's family hopes she will soon be able to see the world for the first time, Xiamen's major news portal xmnn.cnreports.

When Liaoliao was born this February, her family faced the shocking news that her eyes were covered with skin, and she had no eyelashes or eyebrows. As a result, the family were apprehensive about sharing the news of Liaoliao's condition with their neighbors in their village in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

However, her family soon realized that Liaoliao could interpret light. She would always face the sun when taken outside and rubbed her eye sockets when the indoor lights were turned on.

With a glimmer of hope, Liaoliao's family turned tothe Xiamen Eye Center of Xiamen University, whichhad experience with cases of this kind dating back to 2007.

After an operation on November 23, Liu Zuguo, director of the Xiamen Eye Center said that at present, Liaoliao's muscles are unable to supporther eyelids while certain components within her eye have not formed fully. Therefore, the next operation will focus upon improving Liaoliao's visual recovery.

Just over a hundred people worldwide are born with the condition where skin covers their eyeballs and the success rate for treatment is extremely low, xmnn.cnnoted.
